K. Flay is an indie hip-hop headbanger and rising star who mixes shows at the Hollywood Palladium (opening for Awolnation) with festival gigs (she plays Seattle’s Bumbershoot Festival on Labor Day weekend) and the occasional club show.

The rapper ditched a major label deal to release her debut “Life as a Dog” through the crowd-funding site Pledge Music. It landed on Billboard’s Top 200 and was No. 2 on the Heatseekers chart.

Her unique voice attracted the organizers of Fresno’s Catacomb Party music festival, who booked her as a main-stage act for this year’s party in April. Those who missed the performance can see K. Flay when she returns to Fresno for an all-ages show Friday, July 31, at Strummer’s.
