Clarence ‘Fillmore’ Sims brings a night of blues to Fulton 55
Blues man Clarence “Fillmore” Sims performs under a combination of selected surnames, most notably perhaps, is Fillmore Slim.
Sims (as Slim) made a name for himself in the 1950s and ’60, before leaving music for other employment — as featured in the 1999 motion documentary “American Pimp.” He returned to blues in the 1980s, became revered by hip hop acts like Snoop Dog and Big Daddy Kane and earned a place in among blues greats. He was inducted into the West Coast Blues Hall of Fame in 2008.
Here, the San Francisco musician (by way of New Orleans) presents a night of blues with Ella Pennewell and Aaron Tucker.
