Guitarist Paul Brown already had a career in music before branching out as solo artist more than a decade ago. He was the go-to producer and sound engineer for urban jazz artists and known as the Babyface of smooth jazz — a nod to the famous ’90s R&B hit maker.

The Grammy-winning producer has also worked with artists like Earth Wind & Fire, Aretha Franklin and Luther Vandross.

Since his debut, the contemporary jazz musician has released seven studio albums, including “The Funky Joint” in 2012 and last year’s “Truth B Told.” He is currently on tour with saxophonist Michael Paulo and Texas jazz singer Melina.
