Rappers Grieves, Slick Rick come to Fresno
Whether you dig the old school or you’re into more contemporary hip-hop, this pair of shows should have you excited.
Seattle MC Grieves is an indie-rap upstart in the vein of Atmosphere, Macklemore and Brother Ali. His debut album hit No. 1 on the Billboard Heatseeker’s Chart in 2011. The rapper stops Friday night at Strummer’s for one of three California shows on his “Out of the Rain” tour.
Slick Rick, aka Rick the Ruler, is a superstar from hip-hop’s Golden Era. He even was Grammy-nominated. The rapper got his start as part of Doug E. Fresh’s Get Fresh Crew before signing with Def Jam records in 1988. Rick’s “Eye Patch Tour” is at Fulton 55 on Monday. Killah Priest (of Wu-Tang Clan fame) joins Rick on the bill.
