Fugazi tribute band Fauxgazi coming to Strummer’s

8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22 / Strummer’s, 833 E. Fern Ave. / (559) 485-5356, www.strummers.com / $5

Of all the bands that could ever spawn a touring tribute act, Fugazi might seem the least likely. The Washington, D.C. post-hardcore band, fronted by Ian MacKaye, was notorious in the ’90s underground scene for its DIY ethics, general distrust of the music industry and its business model. The band never signed a record deal or had outside management.

They did have a horde of fans, and seeing as the band has been on indefinite hiatus since 2003, Denver’s Fauxgazi might be the closest you’ll get to hearing “Waiting Room” live. That is sure to make some people happy.
