CBS will add six new programs to its lineup for the 2016-2017 season including an updated version of “MacGyver.” The departure of “Supergirl” means that the network is going back to scheduling four comedies on Mondays, a formula that has worked well in the past.

The launch of several of the new series will be delayed until October because of the short slate of NFL games CBS will broadcast on Thursday nights.

Along with the six shows to launch in the fall, CBS has ordered two dramas - “Training Day” and “Doubt” - as mid-season replacements.

Look for some familiar faces as Kevin James, Matt LeBlanc, Joel McHale, Michael Weatherly, Katherine Heigl and Bill Paxton have been cast in the network’s fall and mid-season shows.

The new series include:

“Kevin Can Wait” (8 p.m. Mondays): Kevin James plays a recently retired police officer who finds home life can be more demanding than working the streets.

“Man With a Plan” (8:30 p.m. Mondays): The family comedy stars Matt LeBlanc as a contractor who starts spending more time with his kids.

“The Great Indoors” (8:30 p.m. Thursdays): An adventure reporter (Joel McHale) becomes the desk-bound boss of a group of millennials.

“Bull” (9 p.m. Tuesdays): Michael Weatherly goes from “NCIS” to this legal drama.

“MacGyver” (8 p.m. Fridays): A look at how a young Angus MacGyver (Lucas Till) became one of the government’s most creative operatives.

“Pure Genius” (10 p.m. Thursdays): Silicon Valley tech titan convinces a veteran surgeon to run his state-of-the-art hospital.

Series not returning to the CBS lineup: ‘Limitless,” “Supergirl,” “Angel from Hell,” “CSI: Cyber,” “The Good Wife,” “The McCarthys,” “Mike & Molly,” “The Millers,” “Person of Interest,” “Rush Hour.”
