ABC adding two comedies, two dramas to fall schedule
ABC will add two new comedies and two new dramas to its lineup for the 2016-2017 TV season. Five more programs have been ordered by the network as mid-season launches.
The new shows joining the lineup include:
“Designated Survivor” (10 p.m. Wednesdays): He’s not playing Jack Bauer, but Kiefer Sutherland is back on television. This time he’s playing Tom Kirkman, a lower-level cabinet member who unexpectedly becomes president after a devastating attack on Washington.
“American Housewife” (8:30 p.m. Tuesdays): Katie Otto (Katy Mixon, “Mike and Molly”), is raising her three children in the wealthy town of Westport, CT, a place filled with “perfect” moms and their offsprings.
“Speechless” (8:30 p.m. Wednesdays): Maya DiMeo (Minnie Driver) is a mom who fights injustices both real and imagined for her family that includes a son with special needs.
“Notorious” (9 p.m. Thursdays): Piper Perabo returns to television in this series inspired by the true-life stories of famed criminal defense attorney Mark Geragos and cable news producer Wendy Walker.
The series waiting in the wings include “Conviction,” “Downward Dog,” “Imaginary Mary,” “Still Star-Crossed” and “Time After Time.”
ABC series not returning include: “Marvel’s Agent Carter,” “Castle,” “Nashville,” “The Muppets,” “Blood & Oil,” “The Family,” “Galavant,” “The Whispers” and “Wicked City.”
