Sanger fright spot isn’t letting COVID cancel Halloween. Hobb’s Grove has opening plan
Hobb’s Grove won’t be canceling Halloween in 2020, pandemic or not.
In a video announcement on Wednesday (set to the song “Sound of Silence” and complete with killer clowns and its hillbilly spokesman Billy Bob), the haunted attraction said it plans to open Oct. 9.
It won’t be without modifications.
“We’s gonna be rolling a little different this year,” an overall clad Billy Bob says in the video.
Typically, Hobb’s Grove runs three different attractions — a haunted house, a haunted forest and a hayride (for the kids) — and hosts special events throughout October, for those who agree Halloween deserves a whole month.
This year, the haunted house and hayride will be closed.
Visitors will only be allowed into “the foreboding Freak filled Forest,” according to its website.
A message to Hobb’s Grove was not immediately returned and it is unclear if social distancing will be enforced or if Hobb’s will be limiting capacity (or both) given concerns about the coronavirus.
More information, including ticket prices, is expected on the Hobb’s Grove website on Sept. 13.
Since late-Feburary, the coronavirus has postponed, canceled or altered just about every annual event — including the Big Fresno Fair and the 2021 Rogue Festival) — and caused havoc for local entertainment venues.
