This longtime TV anchor is leaving the airwaves, but she won’t be leaving Fresno
Alex Delgado didn’t think Fresno was going to be her home.
When she started at KSEE 24, the plan was to be there for two years.
Twenty-two years later, the longtime TV news anchor has left the station, but not the city.
“The number one question I think I am getting from everybody is: ‘Where are you going?’ Well, I’m staying here in Fresno,” Delgado said in online farewell Friday afternoon following her final newscast.
She will be taking care of her mother.
She might also read book or two.
“I’ve already dreamed about just sitting and reading a book,” she said, in the Facebook live session.
“What would that be like? To have the time to do that,” she joked.
Delgado became the host of KSEE’s morning show in 1998, replacing Dale Julin. Before that, she worked in Amarllo, Texas.
In Fresno, she helped launch the station’s 4 p.m. newscast and hosted Central Valley Today, when it premiered in 2007. She has also co-costed the Fresno Veteran’s Day Parade for a decade.
News of her departure was met with an official proclamation from the city of Fresno and a video message from Rep. Jim Costa, who praised her as a role model for young, female reporters.
Last newscast for ABC 30 anchor Liz Harrison
KSEE 24 wasn’t the only station to lose a longtime new anchor on Friday.
ABC 30 anchor Liz Harrison also had her last newscast on Friday. Harrison announced her retirement from the Action News team in May. She will start her own business, doing leadership coaching for businesses and individuals in the Fresno area. Harrison had been with the station since the 1980s.
