It’s a new year (and new decade). Celebrate accordingly. Here are 7 choices for NYE 2020
New Year’s Eve is coming.
You shouldn’t feel resigned to stay at home and marathon watch “Dr. Who” (though it airs 12 a.m. to 12 a.m. on BBC America — and, hey, no judgments).
Here are seven, among many, choice Fresno-area NYE events for those looking to get out of the house to celebrate.
A brew year’s eve
The brewery district downtown is hosting a Brew Year’s Eve block party (catch the pun?). Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Company is teaming up with Zack’s Brewing, Modernist Fresno and 411 Broadway for a free, all ages event that includes music (Zee Will for one) and DJs, plus food trucks, specialty beer (obviously) and a speakeasy. Details: 5:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Fulton Street at Inyo Street. www.downtownfresno.org
Dinner and a show
Good Company Players hosts it annual New Year’s Eve Party with a performance of “Elf” (the musical), plus pre-show entertainment from the Ed Burke Band. Also included is dinner, dancing, champagne and party favors. Details: 6 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theatre, 1226 N. Wishon Ave. $99. 559-266-9494, gcplayers.com
Fireworks on the lake
The Pines Resort at Bass Lake is the place to be if you’re want to see NYE fireworks in person (as opposed to on TV). Guests can also enjoy a four-course dinner at Ducey’s on the Lake (with reservations). Parents take note: The Boys and Girls Club of Oakhurst has on-site babysitting for children ages 5-14 for an additional charge. Details: 7:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Lakeview room, Pines Resort, 54432 Road 432, Bass Lake. $17-$20. 800-350-7463, www.basslake.com
On the lanes
Make New Year’s eve a bowling night. Bowlero is offering a variety of party options for the day and into the evening. The ball drop package runs 9 p.m.-1 a.m. and includes unlimited bowling (with shoes), plus arcade specials and a champagne (or sparkling cider) toast. Details: Bowlero Fresno, 6450 N. Blackstone Ave. Packages start at $24.99 per person. 559-431-3711, www.bowlero.com
Family fun
No Surrender Laser Tag Laser Tag and Adventure Park in Clovis hosts its version of a NYE party. There’s a pizza buffet and unlimited admission to the adventure course, plus laser tag, virtual reality gaming, a ropes course and a balloon drop. Details: 8 p.m.-1 a.m. 1200 Shaw Avenue Suite 103, Clovis. $45, $160 for a family four pack. $25 for children under 5. 559-981-2046, www.nosurrendertag.com
A futuristic celebration
There’s a laser light show (with DJ NIcky D from Las Vegas) at the Fireside lounge at Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino. The entertainment on the casino floor includes live music, galactic showgirls and LED stilt walkers. The event is free. Details: 9 p.m.-1 a.m. 711 Lucky Lane, Coarsegold. $55. 559-692-5200, chukchansigold.com
For the foodie

The after-dinner party features a DJ, party favors and a free champagne toast at midnight. Details: Dinner, 5 p.m.-10 p.m. with reservations. 559-433-3300, www.campagnia.net
