Boomers! Fresno has lost its lease.

That’s the word coming from the miniature golf course-go kart-bumper boat-laser tag and arcade on North Blackstone Avenue near River Park. The company posted the news on social media and at the top of its website in bold letters. The location’s last day is Labor Day (Sept. 4), according to Apex Parks Group, which runs nine Boomers! locations in California.

Apex said the closure was the result of failed negotiations with the landlord and was unplanned. Boomers! has been in its location on Blackstone Avenue since 1997 and was hoping to remain there for years to come, according to Meleena Loseke, Apex Parks Group’s public relations and marking director.

“It just didn’t happen that way,” she said. The closure comes after several years of updates at the location, including a new bar and refinished parking lot, a new bumper cars attraction and more than a dozen new arcade games. “In 2016 alone, we spent over $500,000 in improvements to Boomers! because we had so much faith in the park,” Loseke said.

Forty-six employees will be affected by the closure and there are no plans to find a new location in Fresno.

According to postings on its Facebook page, the park will offer special discounts during its final days, including a four-hour Play Pass for $19.99.

After Sept. 4, the closest Boomers! location will be in Modesto.
