Critic comparison for movies playing April 1-7
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (PG-13)
Directed by: Zack Snyder
Starring: Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Jeremy Irons
The pitch: Bruce Wayne decides Superman has to be stopped after the Man of Steel’s fight with General Zod leaves Metropolis a disaster area. At the same time, Superman decides Batman’s vigilante ways need to end. Their struggles are complicated by an evil plot hatched by Lex Luther.
The formula: Throw in a few punches of “Man of Steel.” Clobber some moments from “The Dark Knight.” Crush parts of “Watchman.”
Go see it: If you are a fan of DC Comics since this film draws from several big issues.
Don’t go see it: For the first 45 minutes. Arrive late and miss all of the meaningless material.
Can’t wait: The introduction of Wonder Woman is such a saving grace, it’s a good sign that her solo movie will be worth seeing.
