'Love Island USA' crowns Season 8 winners, sets Aug. 31 reunion

July 13 (UPI) -- Dating reality competition Love Island USA has crowned its Season 8 winners.

Fan-favorite couple Bryce Dettloff, 30, and Trinity Tatum, 22, aka "Brinity," were announced as the new winners during Sunday's finale on Peacock.

The pair beat out runners-up Aniya Harvey and Carl Schmidt and third place couple Melanie Moreno and Sincere Rhea.

"Thank you, America, so much! We're so happy right now, this is [expletive] crazy. I feel like I'm living in a dream right now, this is insane," Dettloff said after the announcement.

Love Island USA is a spinoff of the British reality series Love Island. The show brings together a group of singles, known as "Islanders," as they live together and form romances at an isolated villa. Contestants must couple up or be eliminated.

Also announced Sunday was the news the Season 8 contestants will come together again for a reunion episode releasing Aug. 31 on Peacock. Love Island USA host Ariana Madix and Bravo personality Andy Cohen will host the event.
