Olivia Rodrigo Launches Daisy Chain Fields Music Festival

Pop singer Olivia Rodrigo has been busy as of late with the release of her new album, “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love,” but she somehow has managed to curate an entire music festival between album promotion.

On Monday, June 22, Rodrigo shared the news that she’s heading up Daisy Chain Fields, a new music festival featuring an all-female lineup.

The festival will take place on Aug. 29 in Irvine, California. As for the lineup, it packs a punch. The festival will feature a headlining set from Rodrigo, as well as Garbage, The Breeders, Chappell Roan, Doechii, Bikini Kill, KATSEYE, Mitski and Santigold. Special guests include the famed Sarah McLachlan, Stevie Nicks and Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O.

“Daisy Chain Fields is built on the belief that joy, community and creativity can inspire meaningful change,” Rodrigo said in a statement provided to Newsweek. “I’m so excited to celebrate this incredible lineup of women, and I'm grateful to all of our partners in helping us make this festival come to life.”

She adds, “By bringing together women in music and organizations helping shape a better future for women and girls, I hope we can build a community that inspires hope and positive change.”

Net proceeds from the event will go to nonprofit organizations “dedicated to advancing and advocating for women and girls,” according to the release. For information, head to the music festival’s official website.

Meanwhile, Rodrigo’s “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love” continues to get attention.

“The title was one clue,” Rolling Stone states of the record. “‘You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love’ makes it clear that this project is a complex emotional ride.”

“If ‘Sour’ introduced Rodrigo as a songwriter worth paying attention to and ‘Guts’ showed she had staying power,” adds Audio Ink Radio, “‘You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love’ feels like the moment she truly settles into her own skin.”
