Nancy Guthrie Update: TMZ Says FBI 'Ghosted' After Bitcoin Offer
In a new update in the Nancy Guthrie case, TMZ has shared some additional details about the notes the outlet received regarding the missing 84-year-old.
Over the past few months, TMZ and other media outlets have received ransom notes demanding bitcoin in exchange for Guthrie. These notes, however, did not include proof of life. As far as the public knows, the ransom money was not paid. Separately, notes were sent requesting one bitcoin in exchange for information from someone claiming to know who is responsible for Guthrie's disappearance.
On Monday, June 22, TMZ clarified that none of the notes the outlet received confirmed that Guthrie was dead. Moreover, the outlet reported that it has been in contact with the FBI and even offered to pay the one bitcoin in hopes of getting the promised information
"We believed the person who was asking for the bitcoin in return for information was authentic," TMZ writes. The outlet says it reached out to the FBI with plans to film a documentary on the case. As part of its coverage, TMZ wanted to pay the one bitcoin in hopes of getting the promised information, but the FBI reportedly called the idea "interesting" and said it would follow up.

Per TMZ, that follow-up never happened. The outlet claims that despite reaching out to the FBI again, it has been "ghosted."
Guthrie has been missing since Feb. 1. Authorities believe that she was abducted from her Arizona home in the middle of the night. Over the past four months, investigators have been sifting through evidence and tips, but Nancy's whereabouts-and what led to her disappearance-remain a mystery.
Anyone with information about Nancy is asked to call Tucson's 88-Crime hotline at 1-520-882-7463 or the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
