Lucy Score's New York Times Best-Selling Book Is Getting a TV Adaptation

It's an exciting year for book fans. Amazon has confirmed another book adaptation is on its way, and this time, it's Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score.

The romance novel is the first in the Knockemout series, and it arguably put Score on the map. It became a #1 New York Times and Wall Street Journal best-seller, bringing an irresistible enemies-to-lovers story to the masses.

Score announced the exciting news on Instagram, sharing that not only is Things We Never Got Over being adapted, but that the first script has already been written. Ringers creators Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder have written the script, and they will serve as showrunners on this fast-track production.

There isn't an official title for the first episode just yet. There's still time for that!

Getting a series order from Amazon, the series continues the push for female-driven romance shows. After the success of The Summer I Turned Pretty, the streamer has pushed for more romance. There have already been a number of book-to-screen adaptations confirmed, including The Miles High Club novels by T.L. Swan and the Rose Hill series from Elsie Silver.

Things We Never Got Over starts with Naomi Witt leaving her husband-to-be at the altar. Instead, she heads to a small Virginia town, where her twin sister, Tina, needs help. However, Naomi finds herself stranded in this town after Tina steals are car, phone, and purse. To top it all off, Tina has left behind her teenage daughter, and now Naomi needs to figure out what to do with her niece to care for.

It quickly became one of the most-read titles on Kindle as soon as it was released in 2022. There are now three novels in the Knockemout series, and while there is no word on whether these next books will be adapted, there is hope. It will depend on the success of the first season on Prime Video.

The creators know the work they have in store for them, sharing that the fan base is "wildly passionate" about the characters. They are "excited to introduce the world of Knockemout to Prime Video audiences everywhere."
