Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Brings a Massive New Expansion and Switch 2 Release This October
Capcom has officially unveiled Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, a major expansion for Dragon's Dogma 2 that also marks the game's arrival on Nintendo Switch 2. Announced during Nintendo's June 2026 Direct presentation, the package will launch on October 9, 2026, giving players both the base game and the new expansion content in a single release. The Dark Arisen expansion will also be available separately as downloadable content for existing PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC owners.
The name Dark Arisen will immediately sound familiar to longtime fans of the franchise. The original Dragon's Dogma received a highly regarded expansion with the same subtitle in 2013, and Capcom is once again using the label for a substantial content update designed to expand the world and provide experienced players with new challenges.
At the center of the expansion is a completely new northern region called Norgan. Described as a long-abandoned frozen land, Norgan introduces a new storyline that sends the Arisen into an unexplored part of the world. During the adventure, players will join forces with a mysterious character named Eir while investigating the secrets surrounding the undying Fallen Dragon.
New Dungeons, Equipment, and Character Options
One of the expansion's major additions is a collection of 12 Lost Rites Dungeon Challenges. According to Capcom, these newly discovered dungeons contain trials created by the Pathfinder. Players who complete them will have the opportunity to obtain rare equipment and rewards connected to past Arisen.
The expansion also introduces new relics that can be discovered throughout Norgan. These items can be appraised to unlock additional weapons and skills, providing new progression opportunities for players who have already exhausted much of the base game's content.
For Nintendo players, Dark Arisen represents more than a new expansion. It also marks Dragon's Dogma 2's debut on Switch 2, bringing one of Capcom's largest modern RPGs to the company's newest platform. Combined with the substantial new region, dungeon challenges, story content, and gameplay improvements, Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen looks set to become the definitive version of the game when it arrives on October 9, 2026.
