Edgar Ramirez to join cast of 'Task' Season 2

June 10 (UPI) -- Edgar Ramirez is joining the cast of Task.

HBO confirmed Wednesday that Ramirez, 49, will star in Season 2 of the crime drama series.

Task is created by Brad Ingelsby (Mare of Easttown) and stars Mark Ruffalo as Tom Brandis, an FBI agent and task force leader assigned to investigate a series of armed robberies in Season 1.

Mahershala Ali was previously announced to join the Season 2 cast as Eddie Barnes, a DEA agent whose team clashes with Brandis.

Other new cast members include Harry Melling and Adam Nagaitis as DEA agents Brennan Boylan and Luke Clemmons, with Aminah Nieves as Nataly Zamora, an FBI agent and young mother.

HBO has yet to announce a premiere date for Season 2.

Ramirez's previous roles include Carlos the Jackal in Carlos and Gianni Versace in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.
