The Iconic Las Vegas Pit Stop That Almost Disappeared Forever Just Got a Second Chance
Last year, the iconic casino and hotel destination in Primm, Nevada, announced it would cease operations by the Fourth of July, but that may no longer be the case. Terrible's, a Las Vegas-based company known for its convenience stores, gas stations, and bar slot machines, has stepped in to revive the area, according to The Nevada Independent.
Primm Casino and Hotel Aims to Return to its Las Vegas Route Glory
Many road-trippers have experienced the ghost-town state of the area in recent times, stopping to use the bathroom at gas stations or grabbing a meal at the fast-food spots that remain open in the shadow of the formerly neon-lit iconic resorts, such as Whiskey Pete's and the roller-coaster-adornedBuffalo Bill's.
The Nevada Independent details the agreement Terrible's has reached with the Primm family to continue operations and revitalize the properties in Primm, Nevada, including the hotel and casino resort complex on the way into Las Vegas. "Primm has long been one of Nevada's most recognizable destinations," Terrible's President Tim Herbst said in a statement published by the paper. "This partnership reflects our commitment to preserving that legacy while creating new opportunities for growth, investment, and tourism for decades to come. We believe Primm's best days are still ahead."
Terrible's acquisition is set to save the livelihoods of over 300 workers in the Nevada border area.

Cory Clemetson, the grandson of town founder Ernie Primm and CEO of Primm South Real Estate Co., added in a statement to the Nevada Independent that the family was "delighted to partner with Terrible's and the Herbst family to help our family manage and operate these properties that are so important to Southern Nevada," he said of the deal in the works to prevent Primm's originally planned July closure.
When will the Primm Pit Stop Casino Resort reopen for travelers?
Now, getting the Primm area retooled to properly represent the nostalgia of its old Vegas route glory days is going to take some time. The deal reveals that it will start with the Primm Valley Casino Resort and the Oasis Apartments before any further expansion can be explored.
According to the Nevada Independent, Terrible's still needs to get licensing approved by the Nevada gaming regulators before July 4. Gaming Control Board Chairman Mike Dreitzer told the paper there would be a special hearing by the board and the Nevada Gaming Commission. "The Herbst family has a long history as a Nevada gaming licensee," Dreitzer shared. "We will do everything we can to help ensure continuity of gaming operations at Primm."
Meanwhile, Buffalo Bills and Whiskey Pete remain closed for now, but there's an air of optimism around the promise that this deal will be the start of a new era for the community on the way to the Strip on Interstate 15. Terrible's goals with Primm include "property renovations, upgraded traveler amenities, enhanced food and beverage offerings, infrastructure improvements, and other investments," according to the Nevada Indy.
