Tarek and Heather El Moussa Say They Feel 'Violated' in Shock Post-Then Vanish From Social Media
After a run of lighthearted, playful posts, HGTV stars Tarek and Heather El Moussa shared a troubling message on their Instagram Story, saying they and their children are safe but feel "violated" by a recent incident. The couple added that they will be stepping back from social media for the time being.
Heather created the story post, but Tarek shared it on his account-also without additional explanation. "Disgusted by some of the cruel, heartless people in the world," Heather wrote. "Tarek and I feel violated and to be honest really sad. Taking a break for a few days and will [be] back to explain soon. We are safe and the kids are safe."
Just a day earlier, the couple had posted a lighthearted vacation clip set to a Scott Disick and Kris Jenner voiceover. Tarek also posted a fun collab with Heather and ex-wife Christina, with "When the trio is finally back together" embedded in the video.
While the couple promised to address the post, Heather is no stranger to troll takedowns. In 2024, she addressed some of the tough comments she receives. "Imagine hating at me and I'm just at home like…," she wrote on Instagram over a video holding her son. She captioned the post, "Social media can be a double-edged sword; while it offers connectivity and community, it also presents a platform for comparison and negativity. However, your perspective and how you engage with it is so important. I hope you guys don't have to deal with this, but if you have, I'm sending you all the love."
During the same year, she spoke about walking away from the hit Netflix series Selling Sunset, calling it toxic. "It was a blessing that I wasn't asked to come back because I'm so much happier filming my show with Tarek," she said via People. "We're co-producers on our show so we pick the hours. With Selling Sunset, I never knew when I was going to be filming. It was last minute, it took over my life, it was hard to do my real job - real estate. It was hard to do anything else."
Now, in 2026, Heather has returned to Selling Sunset alongside Christine Quinn, who teased tension in the upcoming season. "There are conversations that got cut short. I'm also not going to pretend things didn't happen," she shared in a press release for the show. "Obviously, when you put a group of women with big personalities in a room together, there's going to be tension. That's just reality, but it's how you handle those differences that define the dynamic."
