Pixel Washer Demo Review

With games that cover that cleaning-something niche, comparison is everything. Pixel Washer, a game we already covered in our overview, is a simplified take on the genre. Simplified being the key factor here: it's what you'd expect from something like PowerWash Simulator, but instead of satisfying, it feels like an amusing chore.

That's key to what the game aims to be: a 2D puzzle game with cleaning as its core premise. The later levels do expand on the puzzle aspect, with objects coming in and out of view, or puddles of mud making things dirtier if you're not careful. The game aims for mechanical depth, but for the demo, it failed to show it properly.

The humor is another aspect that is being pushed front and center: the main character is a pig, after all. And not an anthropomorphic one, but a four legged piggy that has a water gun sort of floating around it. This can lead to humorous situations or images, but from what we saw on the demo, neither was present. The ‘pig mobile' is charming as a vehicle, but beyond it being adorable, not much more was gleaned.

So, is it a bad game then? Far from it; several games get released to steam every day with lesser quality, and few are the ones that offer a demo to try it out. It is a simple experience, but one that can be a pleasant companion while doing something else. As it often happens with these releases, it will all come down to pricing once it comes out.
