Talkin "Sound System" With Five-Fret Vets Marcus Henderson And Lennon Lange

Five-Fret gaming is back, baby! Not that it ever truly left, but fans have been starved for a proper new game that picks up where the likes of “Rock Band 4” left off. Hopes are high that “Sound System” can carry the torch for five-fret enthusiasts who miss the glory days of “Guitar Hero.”

“Sound System” comes from developer Echo Foundry, which comprises of many people who worked on classic “Guitar Hero” titles, including Chris Vance and the subject of today’s interview, studio co-founders Marcus Henderson and Lennon Lange. The game aims to be a platform for five-fret gaming. They don’t plan to release sequels, but to use the magic of the internet age to update the game with new features and content.

I got to have a chat with Marcus Henderson and Lennon Lange, who shared their pitch for a new era of five-fret gaming. They revealed that “Sound System” will feature drums at launch, the game’s ambitious DLC plans, and how they plan to allow players to customize nearly every aspect of the game, from the UI to the songs themselves, thanks to their innovative new game-changer, which they call “Pulsemap.” This feature allows players to customize note charts in-game, as well l as create charts from scratch for custom songs. Do you have a favorite song that will probably never make its way into a five-fret game? Upload the chart yourself!
