Founding Member of '70s Rock Band Announces Update on North America Tour
Peter Hook, the founding bassist of legendary post-punk band Joy Division and a founding member of New Order, has announced an important update to his upcoming North American tour with Peter Hook & The Light.
According to a new announcement shared by Joy Division on Instagram, Peter Hook & The Light have added a new performance date at the Levitation festival in Austin, Texas, on Sept. 12. The newly confirmed appearance completes the band's August and September 2026 North American tour schedule.
The tour will begin on Aug. 22 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and conclude on Sept. 27 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Organizers also revealed that the Vancouver show has already sold out, while several other dates are expected to follow.
The update gives fans a complete look at what will be one of the band's most extensive North American runs in recent years. At headline shows, Peter Hook & The Light will perform New Order's 2001 album Get Ready in its entirety to celebrate the record's 25th anniversary. The performance will be followed by a second set featuring songs from both Joy Division and New Order.
For the Austin festival appearance, however, the group will present a special "best of" set featuring selections from the catalogs of both influential bands.
The upcoming tour continues Peter Hook & The Light's long-running tradition of performing classic albums from Joy Division and New Order on stage.
Peter Hook formed Peter Hook & The Light in 2010 after years of success with Joy Division and New Order. Since then, the group has become known for performing complete albums and celebrating the music that helped shape post-punk and alternative music.
Hook was a founding member of Joy Division, which formed in 1976 alongside vocalist Ian Curtis, guitarist Bernard Sumner and drummer Stephen Morris. Following Curtis' death in 1980, the remaining members formed New Order, one of the most influential bands of the 1980s and beyond.
Peter Hook & The Light regularly revisit material from both groups, allowing fans to hear songs performed by one of the musicians who originally helped create them.
The upcoming tour centers on Get Ready, New Order's seventh studio album, originally released in 2001. The record marked an important chapter in the band's career and included fan-favorite tracks that remain part of New Order's legacy.
The North American run will feature stops in major cities, including Toronto, Chicago, Boston, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Washington, Houston, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland and Vancouver.
The tour announcement arrives just weeks after Joy Division and New Order were selected for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 2026.
Speaking recently about the honor, Hook expressed his excitement about the recognition and reflected on the years-long effort to secure induction. The recognition represents a major moment for both bands, whose influence continues to be felt across multiple generations of musicians and fans.
Despite a well-documented split between Hook and his former New Order bandmates, the bassist has remained active on the road through Peter Hook & The Light. The group has spent more than a decade celebrating the music of Joy Division and New Order through extensive international touring.
Fans attending the 2026 North American shows can expect a combination of album-focused performances and classic songs from two of Britain's most influential bands.
Tickets for all remaining dates are currently available, although demand appears strong. The Vancouver stop on Sept. 27 has already sold out, and organizers have encouraged fans not to wait too long before securing tickets.
With a full itinerary now confirmed, Peter Hook & The Light are set to bring the music of Joy Division and New Order to audiences across North America while celebrating the 25th anniversary of Get Ready and continuing the legacy of two iconic bands.
