Frank Zappa ‘ZAPPAtite' Compilation Set for Vinyl Release
The Frank Zappa compilation “ZAPPAtite – Frank Zappa’s Tastiest Tracks” is finally coming to vinyl. It’s hard to believe, but this set has never been available on wax until now.
“ZAPPAtite – Frank Zappa’s Tastiest Tracks” will arrive on vinyl for the first time on July 17. The set was originally released only on CD and digital formats when it dropped in 2016.
The 2-LP set primarily features four sections: Appetizers, Entrées, Second Course and Desserts.

“This isn’t a greatest hits album, as Frank didn't really have ‘hits,’ per se, nor is it a ‘best of,’ since it would be impossible to fit so much awesome onto one disc,” Zappa’s son Ahmet Zappa said of the set when it was originally released. He added that it’s a “veritable smorgasbord of musicality for the curious and a buffet of favorites for the fans” and “collects a cross section of my favorite songs composed by my dad.”
A press release calls the release an “inviting entry point into the more rock-oriented side of [Zappa’s] expansive repertoire.”
“Frank Zappa’s music defied categorization, constantly pushing boundaries while blending virtuoso musicianship, sharp satire and fearless experimentation into a singular artistic vision,” the statement continues.

What’s extra cool about this set is that it spans three decades of Zappa’s seminal recordings, offering something for both longtime listeners and newbies who are just getting into Zappa’s music. From straight-ahead rock to jazz numbers, “ZAPPAtite” showcases the wide variety of the late musician’s sound and style.
