'Friday Night Lights' To Celebrate 20th Anniversary With New Behind-the-Scenes Docuseries

The beloved television show 'Friday Night Lights' had fans everywhere captured, following the story of the phenomenon that is high school football in Dillon, Texas.
The drama series is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary, with the cast and crew reuniting at ATX TV Festival on Friday, May 29. And with that, fans will get a new behind-the-scenes look, with DEADLINE reporting that "Gravitas Ventures is producing a documentary series about the impact of the show over the last two decades."
The docuseries will include new interviews as well as stories that have never been shared. Some fans will also be interviewed, diving into the show's incredible impact and lasting legacy.
The outlet adds that a "camera crew will be on site in Austin to follow the cast and crew around town for the various panels they're participating in, including the marquee reunion on Friday night at the Paramount Theatre."
Stars set to return to the panel include Kyle Chandler (Eric Taylor), Connie Britton (Tami Taylor), Adrianne Palicki (Tyra Collette), Gaius Charles (Brian "Smash" Williams), Brad Leland (Buddy Garrity), Derek Phillips (Billy Riggins), Jesse Plemons (Landry Clarke), Scott Porter (Jason Street), Stacey Oristano (Mindy Collette), Louanne Stephens (Mrs. Saracen), and Aimee Teegarden (Julie Taylor).
However, none of the members of the original show are set to return to the Friday Night Lights reboot series, which was announced in December 2024. The show, which is in development at Peacock and will "take place in the aftermath of a devastating hurricane, when a ragtag high school football team and their damaged interim coach make an unlikely bid for a Texas High School State Championship," according to Peacock's announcement. "Through their unexpected rise, the football team becomes a beacon of light for their town." The reboot will be directed by Peter Berg, who served as an executive producer on the hit series.
