The Neighborhood Is Expanding: ‘Mister Rogers' Officially Joins YouTube

The enduring messages and songs of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood are headed to another small screen. PEOPLE reports that the iconic children's series will have its own dedicated YouTube channel for audiences to enjoy its feel-good takeaways.

Creative Director Kristin DiQuollo explains the exciting move: "Every day is the perfect day for kids, parents, and longtime fans to revisit Mister Rogers' lessons or discover them for the first time. His messages are timeless because they're simple and human. Fred Rogers said that what's happening on the outside of kids may change, but what's happening on the inside never stays the same."

"We hope to support that now as much as ever. I think we all look for ways to connect with ourselves, a family member, or a neighbor, but we don't always know how. Mister Rogers helps us find ways to do that, whether it's modeling a quiet conversation with a friend, playing around on a musical instrument, making believe, or saying out loud how we feel," DiQuollo adds.

According to PEOPLE, the show itself will continue broadcasting nationwide via PBS, PBS KIDS on Prime Video, the PBS Kids Video app, PBS Retro, and around the clock on Pluto TV's Mister Rogers' Neighborhoodchannel. Meanwhile, the Mister Rogers' Neighborhood YouTube account will highlight the "wide range of themes" and memorable songs that are central to each episode, as well as further explore the series throughout its years of production.

Mister Rogers' Neighborhood originally aired from 1968 to 2001. Created and hosted by author and Presbyterian minister Fred Rogers, the series became known for its inspiring life lessons. Rogers, who passed away in 2003, became an icon whom every household wished could be their real-life neighbor. He received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2002 and a Lifetime Achievement Emmy in 1997 for his work.

Variety named Mister Rogers' Neighborhood one of the "100 Greatest TV Shows of All Time," ranking it at number 89.
