STARBITES Is Out Now On PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, And Steam
NIS America's new JRPG STARBITES is available now on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam for $49.99. A Limited Edition is also available through the NIS America store for $89.99, packing in a collector's box, artbook, original soundtrack, an acrylic stand, a metal pin set, and a rubber keychain set. The Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game, however, has been delayed, with no specific timeline yet for its new release date.
The game puts you in control of Lukida, a young salvager scraping by on Bitter, a desert planet left in ruins after an interstellar war. A surprise attack by a giant robot pulls her into something much bigger than a salvage run, and what starts as a fight for survival quickly becomes a fight for the planet itself.
Motorbots, Turn-Based Battles, and a Desert Planet Worth Exploring
STARBITES centers on Motorbot-based traversal: Lukida rides across Bitter's expansive landscape, taking on enemies in a turn-based battle system designed to be approachable without losing depth. Party-building and Motorbot equipment customization are both core to how you prep for tougher fights.
The game draws clear comparisons to classic JRPGs in structure: a story-driven campaign, a colorful cast of allies, and a world that opens up as Lukida uncovers what's really happening beneath Bitter's sands. Early reviews have called it a genuine love letter to the genre, although some players have criticized the game's depth, price, one-note characters, and for being relatively short for a JRPG.
