Duchess Meghan Posts Recipe for Scones: "Memorial Weekend Plans"

Duchess Meghan posted a recipe for scones via her brand As ever's official Instagram account.

"Memorial weekend plans," the caption read. "Baking warm scones topped with our Strawberry or Raspberry Spread, Orange Blossom Honey, and Flower Sprinkles."

It was accompanied by a video showing a scone being topped with cream and a dollop of As ever's raspberry jam, as well as a recipe for scones.

Looks like Meghan is cream first, then jam when it comes to scones-which is how Queen Elizabeth II also preferred her to take scones, as her grandson Prince William mentioned in an interview a few days ago.

Apparently the question of whether you should put cream or jam on first can be a point of contention!

A proper cream tea or afternoon tea consists of tea, scones, clotted cream, and jam. But in the county of Devonshire the clotted cream is spread on the scone first and then topped with jam, while according to the Cornish method jam is followed by cream.

The Prince of Wales revealed that his grandmother was an adherent to the Devonian method.

"I can only tell you what I learned from my grandmother, and she [...] had the cream on first," he told the hosts of radio show Heart Breakfast. "Cream on first, jam on top."
