Music Icon Ricky Martin 'Safe' After Scary Incident During Montenegro Concert

Ricky Martin was involved in a scary situation during his concert in Montenegro on Thursday night. The music icon was performing when an individual sprayed tear gas towards the stage.

Martin exited the stage as a safety precaution, and now the musician's publicist, Rondiné Alcalá, has provided a new update on Instagram.

"During Ricky Martin's concert tonight in Montenegro - where the artist was kicking off the European leg of his Ricky Martin Live tour - an individual discharged tear gas toward the stage, causing an abrupt interruption of the show as audience members moved away from the area and received assistance," the statement read.

"As a precautionary measure, Ricky Martin and his entire team immediately exited the stage while security personnel and local authorities worked to contain the situation and ensure the safety of those in attendance."

Alcalá went on to explain that Martin's team "advised against continuing the performance," but the singer made the decision to finish the show after "authorities confirmed that the situation was under control." Martin's upcoming performances in Europe, as well as other international dates, will continue as scheduled.

"The artist will continue his Ricky Martin Live tour with upcoming performances across Europe and additional international dates as scheduled," the statement concluded.

In the caption, his publicist added that Martin and his team "are safe and grateful for the support and concern."

And many people left supportive notes in the comments.

Martin's next stop on his tour is in Moldova on June 12.
