CBS News Cameraman Suffers Medical Emergency Live: Network Shares Update
A CBS News cameraman suffered a medical emergency as Tony Dokoupil was reporting live from Taiwan, with the network sharing an update soon after.
On Wednesday, May 13, Dokoupil's broadcast was suddenly interrupted when a cameraman seemingly collapsed.
"And finally tonight, from Taiwan, as President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping prepare to meet, we will hear a lot about American decline and the rise of a powerful new China," Dokoupil began the segment. "The Chinese, certainly....Is he OK? We're going to take a quick break. We have a medical emergency, here."
He added, "We're calling a doctor," as a female voice instructed, "Call the doctor, please."
That's when the live feed cut to the CBS studio in New York City.
"I'm going to sign off for Tony Dokoupil, who has been reporting in Taiwan," reporter Matt Gutman told viewers. "We're going to go to break. We'll be right back."
