Fans Left in Shock After Rediscovering Legendary 2012 Musical Collaboration: 'I Can't Believe I Live in This Timeline'

Rock music is no stranger to giving us mashups we wouldn't have expected.

Throughout all the years of pageantry and performances, many unlikely groups have formed over the years, whether that be the iconic ending performance for The Last Waltzfeaturing pretty much every folk rock icon of the era, and including maybe the only performance of a Beatle, a Rolling Stone, and Bob Dylan all performing together, or the more recent supergroup performances from Black Sabbath's "Back to the Beginning."

Fans, however, have recently rediscovered maybe one of the most bizarre collabs we have ever gotten -- Paul McCartney and Nirvana.

The band, dubbed "Sirvana," formed as part of the 12-12-12 benefit for Hurricane Sandy. The group performed a song they wrote together called "Cut Me Some Slack," which is a massive sonic shift for the former Beatle. Hearing him break out his huskier voice used on songs like "Helter Skelter" combined with the grunge sound of Nirvana is super exciting, and fans couldn't get enough.

That's why "Sirvana" had to make another appearance. They performed on SNL shortly after the above performance and knocked out of the park once again. Recently, that performance resurfaced, and fans were stunned.

"Why is Nirvana there??" one fan asked, to which I had the same question.

"WOW!"

"Can't believe I live in a timeline where The Beatles & Nirvana were collaborating like this," the caption read, which I think is a sentiment we can all agree on.

Music may never see as crazy a collab as this one again. The clashing of eras and styles of rock music between two of the most influential bands of all time is something to behold,. and we were absolutely blessed to have gotten to experience it then, and again now.

Paul McCartney returns to the SNL stage on May 16th, so be sure not to miss it!
