Nintendo announces new 'Star Fox' game for June
May 7 (UPI) -- Nintendo surprised announced a new Star Fox video game that is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 25.
Nintendo made the announcement late Wednesday with a surprise Direct presentation that showcased the game.
Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto and Yoshiaki Koizumi presented the new Star Fox, which sees the return of ace space pilot Fox McCloud and his ragtag team as they protect the galaxy.
The new Star Fox is a remake of 1997 classic Star Fox 64 for the Nintendo 64 console with overhauled graphics and gameplay elements.
The new graphics give Fox McCloud and his teammates, Falco Lombardi, Peppy Hare and Slippy Toad, a more realistic look. New cutscenes have also been added along with a 4v4 online multiplayer mode.
Star Fox is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 25. Pre-orders are open on the Nintendo e-shop for $49.99.
The game follows Fox McCloud's appearance in the recently released Super Mario Galaxy Movie where the character was voiced by actor Glen Powell.
