Kate Middleton's Adorable Reaction to a Student Crashing Into Her During School Visit

Kate Middleton demonstrated her unflappable nature by quickly switching to mom mode during a school visit when a child bumped into her.

The Princess of Wales, 44, visited the University of East London in Stratford on May 6 to launch Foundations for Life: A Guide to Social and Emotional Development, a new resource from her Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood. Kate met with researchers, students, and other professionals in higher education to learn from them and talk about her foundation's new initiative. In addition, she also met with other moms and children, including one unexpected run-in with a youngster.

In a video posted to X, a small child wearing a bright blue shirt was playfully running down the hall. The little one went to turn into a classroom just as Kate was walking out. Without missing a beat, Kate helped slow the child down before gently guiding them into the classroom - while also having a good laugh at the surprise visitor.

Kate is extremely passionate about early education, with several of her patronages being centered around children. On May 13, Kate is embarking on a two-day trip to Reggio Emilia in northern Italy to learn about the city's namesake learning method.

"The Princess is very much looking forward to visiting Italy next week and seeing first-hand how the Reggio Emilia approach creates environments where nature and loving human relationships come together to support children's development," her spokesperson said in a statement to People about Kate learning more about the internationally recognized method.

Kate welcomed her and Prince William's first child, Prince George, in July 2023, their second child, Princess Charlotte, in May 2015, and their third child, Prince Louis, in April 2018. She has been quite candid about the ups and downs of pregnancy and postpartum.

"Nothing can really prepare you for the sheer overwhelming experience of what it means to become a mother," Kate said during a royal charity event in 2017. "It is full of complex emotions of joy, exhaustion, love, and worry, all mixed together."

During the same speech, Kate encouraged others to find support by openly talking about all the facets of parenting. "It is right to talk about motherhood as a wonderful thing, but we also need to talk about its stresses and strains," she said. "It's OK not to find it easy, and asking for help should not be seen as a sign of weakness."
