Met Gala Protestors Hide Hundreds of Bottles Filled With Shocking Substance Inside the Museum
The 2026 Met Gala is underway, with celebrities and high-profile guests ascending the iconic steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, all in the name of fashion, philanthropy, and spectacle. But as the world's most glamorous pose for paps outside, something far less polished has been unfolding behind closed doors.
According to reports, activists who are protesting the gala's association with Jeff Bezos have allegedly hidden more than 300 small bottles of "fake urine" throughout the Met in the days leading up to Met Monday.
The protestors' behind the stunt shared footage on social media showing individuals placing small "pee bottles" around the space, claiming they actually contained just water and food coloring. As for the meaning behind the bottles, the group said they are a reference to past allegations against Amazon alleging workers were forced to go to the bathroom in bottles to meet productivity demands - allegations the company has denied.
In posts online, the group tied the protest directly to Bezos' association with the Met. The billionaire entrepreneur is the lead sponsor for tonight's gala, a decision The New York Times says has sparked a ton of backlash over the past several months.
"Jeff Bezos's company Amazon is literally being sued for forcing workers to urinate in bottles. Amazon avoids MILLIONS in tax and Bezos is one of the world's richest men," the group wrote in a May 2 Instagram post. "The Met Museum is taking the P-SS by having Jeff honoured as their Gala host."
According to USA Today, security has resolved the incident. As for the gala itself, the 2026 theme, Costume Art, and dress code, Fashion Is Art, invites attendees to treat fashion as a form of artistic expression, turning the mossy green carpet into a living gallery. But this year, it seems the conversation extends far beyond fashion.
