Did Pregnant White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt Welcome Her Baby Yet?

When White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced her maternity leave last week, she probably didn't expect such a quick return to work. While she made a hasty reappearance following the assassination attempt on PresidentDonald Trump at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, Leavitt has been noticeably absent from the rest of the week's events.

At 39 weeks pregnant, the soon-to-be mom of two recently said (prior to a news briefing), "This will likely be my last gaggle for some time. As you can see, I'm about ready to have a baby any minute. So, um, I will see you guys very soon." Leavitt also posted last-day-at-work pics on Instagram, patting herself on the back for making it through a pregnancy while working and caring for a toddler. The Press Secretary also has an almost two-year-old son, Niko, with husband Nicholas Riccio.

So, was she correct to say she would welcome her daughter "any minute"? To answer that question, we have to look at what happened next. As just about everyone already knows, immediately after the WHCD, King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived in the U.S. for a state visit to bolster the two nations' relationship and to commemorate the 250th anniversary of America's independence from Great Britain. But it looks like Leavitt was waiting for an arrival of her own!

Key staff members gathered outside the White House to greet the royals and enjoyed a formal ceremony on the South Lawn. Likewise, some of the nation's top political figures joined the President and First Lady Melania Trump for a lavish state dinner at the White House. While pregnant Second Lady, Vice President JD Vance's wife, Usha Vance, attended the April 28 arrival, and pregnant conservative podcaster and wife of Stephen Miller, Katie Miller (dressed to impress in a belly-bump-baring gown), went to the state dinner, Leavitt was one expectant mommy who was nowhere in sight.

Her absence begs the question, "Did Karoline Leavitt have her baby?" Based on a new Instagram post, the answer is no. Leavitt recently shared a series of photos featuring her family outside, enjoying the spring sun. Dressed in a flowy, floral frock, Leavitt cradles her belly in one pic and gently pats her son Niko's head in another. Along with the adorable images, she writes, "There is no greater blessing than motherhood. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise."

Of course, it's possible the sweet snapshots were taken weeks ago and only give the impression that she hasn't given birth yet. But Leavitt did add a second post, featuring a family photo of herself, Niko, and Nicholas, with the caption, "Family of four incoming…" If Leavitt just dropped a hint in the statement, it looks like we'll just have to wait!
