Secrets of Strixhaven Prismari Artistry Commander Precon Upgrade Guide
Magic: The Gathering's Secrets of Strixhaven Prismari Artistry Commander precon is a spellslinger deck built around casting expensive spells rather than chaining multiple cheap ones. Its payoff comes from generating creature tokens to turn those big spells into real board pressure.
In this guide, we'll cover the best upgrades to improve its consistency, support its high-cost spells, and maximize its token-based payoffs.
Full Throttle
Full Throttle is a sorcery that gives you two additional combat phases. Rootha's ability triggers at the beginning of combat, so this sorcery
Resonating Lute
Resonating Lute accelerates the Prismari Artistry precon by letting your lands produce additional mana. This helps you cast expensive spells earlier to get stronger triggers from Rootha. It also has additional utility by letting you draw cards, but only if you hit a certain threshold.
Call Forth the Tempest
Call For the Tempest is an expensive sorcery that lets you cascade twice. This lets you cast up to two additional spells that cost less for free. Afterwards, it deals damage to each creature your opponents control equal to the total mana value of other spells you've cast this turn. This sorcery functions as a great board wipe in this deck that also gives you an 8/8 Elemental token from Rootha's ability when it triggers.
Nanogene Conversion
Nanogene Conversion is a strong sorcery for getting multiple Rootha triggers. It turns each other creature into a non-legendary copy of the creature you target. You'll want to copy Rootha with this to turn your other creatures into her. Afterwards, you'll get plenty of Rootha triggers, creating numerous elementals to beat down each opponent.
World at War
World at War is another sorcery that creates an additional combat phase. Spells that create additional combat phases are great with Rootha since she'll create an elemental at the beginning of each of them. This spell also has rebound, letting you cast a free copy of it at the beginning of your next upkeep.
Prismari Artistry rewards you for going big, but it needs the right support to make those turns consistent and impactful. Once upgraded, the deck can reliably turn expensive spells into overwhelming board presence.
By smoothing out its setup and strengthening its payoffs, you can make every big spell count and keep pressure on the table.
