After 1,200 Episodes on 'Coronation Street,' One Fan-Favorite Star Breaks Silence on Her 'Powerful' New Role in a Rival Soap

Former Coronation Street star Brooke Vincent is set to join the cast of Hollyoaks, marking her return to a full-time acting role.

Vincent confirmed the news on Instagram, sharing a photo from the set alongside the caption, "So excited to be joining the cast of Hollyoaks for such a powerful storyline!!"

She added that she is grateful for the opportunity and excited to portray a "brand-new character." She jokingly concluded her post sharing, "plus my family will be happy I'm back in a full time job Haha 🎬✨"

In the comment section, several of Vincent's former and current co-stars shared messages of support. Sally Dynevor who played Vincent's Corrie mother Sally Metcalfe excitedly said, "Oh Brooke congratulations, you will be absolutely fantastic as you were in Corrie. Can't wait to watch you xxx." Meanwhile, Sue Devaney who plays Vincent's on-screen aunt, Debbie Webster, wrote, "Love this our Brooke! You'll be fabulous as ever! Love yer Auntie Debbie ❤️❤️❤️xxxx"

Ryan Thomas, ex-Jason Grimshaw, shared, "How do I find out about this on social media Sophie on Hollyoaks this is a big deal!!!!?", with one of her newest co-stars Jennifer Metcalfe, who plays Mercedes McQueen, writing words of encouragement adding, "Awww great news 🙌 ur gunna love it! ❤️"

Details about Vincent's role and the "powerful" storyline have not yet been revealed. However, Hollyoaks teased her arrival in a recent post on its official Facebook account, sharing images of the actress on the Hollyoaks High school set, hinting at a possible storyline setting.

Vincent previously played the role of Sophie Webster on Coronation Street for over 1200 episodes between her debut on May 12, 2004 and her exit on October 9, 2019. During her time on the series she participated in many major storylines, including coming out, and her relationships with Sian Powers (Sacha Parkinson), Maddie Heath, Jenna Kamara, Kate Connor and Paula Martin. The character left the cobbles in 2019 in order to go traveling around Asia.

Hollyoaks airs new episodes Monday through Wednesdays on E4 in the U.K., with episodes streaming globally one week later, officially, on YouTube.
