'Days of Our Lives' Star Honors Her Late 'Supercouple' Partner with a Heartbreaking Nod to Their Iconic 90s Romance
Patrick Muldoon, best known for his role on Days of Our Lives, has died at the age of 57 following a reported heart attack, according to Deadline. Following the news, his former co-star Christie Clark shared a tribute on social media to the late actor.
Clark returned to Days of Our Lives in 1992 following a year-long absence, during which the role of Carrie Brady was played by Tracy Middendorf. During that time, Carrie had entered into a relationship with Austin Reed (Muldoon). When Clark resumed the role, the pairing's popularity grew significantly, including a major storyline in the primetime spinoff Days of Our Lives: Night Sins.
Clark shared a tribute on Instagram account, writing: "This gorgeous Irish man was just as beautiful inside as outside. P Muldoon made anyone that met him fall in love with him."
She continued, "Thank you for the hard belly laughing, nostril flaring uproarious good times I had with you. They're imprinted on my heart and soul. My Irish friend, Jim morrison/Marlon Brando re-incarnated, lover of life & music."
Clark also sent her condolences to Muldoon's loved wones, writing, "Sending massive hugs to his most prized people, Deanna, Patrick Sr, Shana, Amhet, Halo, Arrow and of course his love Miriam. Thinking of you."
Clark also revealed that she picked I Only Have Eyes for You by The Flamingos to play in the background of her post, noting it was Carrie and Austin's "love song" on the show. "I will always think of you when I hear this," she shared, "Smile and think of my lovely mischievous and much missed beautiful friend."
Clarks on-screen family joined her in the comment section. Deidre Hall, who plays her stepmother Marlena Black, wrote "Christie, how tenderly and expressively put. Thank you." while her on-screen siblings Martha Madison wrote, "Thinking of you and sending so much love." While Eric Martsolf added, "Beautiful."
Muldoon left the series in 1995, with Austin Peck assuming the role of Austin Reed. Muldoon and Clark returned to the series briefly in 2011, for a ten month stint before exiting once again in 2012.
