'80s Queen of Pop Takes Us Back to the Beginning With Newly Announced 15th Album

"The wait is finally over," reads today's announcement email to Madonna fan club followers. "Confessions II will be released globally on July 3rd." Must be that seven-year itch because Madonna's last studio album, Madame X, was released in June 2019. Now the '80s Queen of Pop is taking us all the way back to where she started ... on the dance floor.

Madonna's history with dance goes way back, signing up with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre and training in ballet and modern dance under Martha Graham. So much of her original music was inspired by all the time she spent in New York dance clubs in the late '70s and early '80s. From hits like "Holiday" and "Get Into the Groove," she's been singing about her connection to the dance floor for decades.

Her fan club email describes this connection best: "People think that dance music is superficial. But they've got it all wrong. The dance floor is not just a place, it's a threshold. A ritualistic space where movement replaces language. - Madonna"

As we all know now, dance would just be the beginning for Madonna (born Madonna Louise Ciccone), and she would go on to become top-selling artist with 14 studio albums. Now she's 67 years old and shows no signs of stopping.

In response to the new Confessions II album announcement, fans are losing their minds. Check out a few of the greatest reactions:

As always, Madonna gives fans a racy promotional logo to kick things off. It's up for interpretation, but it appears she wants everyone to know she's giving birth to some brand new dance music.
