A '70s Rock Icon Just Announced New Songs and a Concert Experience Unlike Anything Before

If you thought Kiss was done after their farewell tour, Gene Simmons has some news for you.

Simmons has confirmed that the legendary rock band has written new songs, set to debut as part of their upcoming avatar-based show in Las Vegas in 2028.

"You're gonna get all that stuff, and also new songs," Simmons revealed to Pollstar on Monday, April 14. And when pressed for more details, he added, "Exactly what that means, written by us. We have songs done."

The avatar show, which Kiss first teased at the conclusion of their farewell tour in December 2023, is shaping up to be an ambitious project. Industrial Light & Magic (the visual effects company founded by George Lucas)will be creating the band's virtual avatars, while Pophouse Entertainment, the Swedish company behind the massively successful ABBA Voyage hologram show, will lead the rollout.

Paul Stanley promised the show will be anything but a generic greatest hits roundup. "It will have all the classics through the years and some surprises," he said to the outlet. He added that the experience "has really no connection to some of the experimental holograms that were tried in the past, which were really very primitive. This will be virtually seeing us. My avatar looks just like me, not a cartoon or an artist rendition. The great thing about being an icon is you can stay young forever."

While fans wait for 2028, Simmons has plenty keeping him busy in the meantime. The 76-year-old recently added three solo tour dates this summer-July 17 in Fresno, July 18 in Murphys, and July 19 in Stateline, Nevada-with Lita Ford, Sebastian Bach, and Quiet Riot joining him on stage for the run. The newly added dates come on top of two already scheduled California shows in June at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Fresno and the Alamo Country Fair in Pleasanton, as well as an October residency in Cancun at The Sands.
