Singer with more social media followers than Mick Jagger will perform at Fresno club
She might not be the biggest household name to perform at Strummer’s.
But K-Pop star Amber Liu might have the largest social media following among acts who’ve played at the Tower District venue.
Liu — who has more than 8 million followers on social media, which is slightly more than even rock ‘n’ roll legend Mick Jagger — will take the Strummer’s stage Friday night.
And though Korean pop isn’t the usual genre of music associated with Strummer’s, Liu is expected to perform before a large crowd.
Fresno, after all, has become a hotbed for K-pop ticket sales.
Liu captured much of her fame as a member of the popular South Korean girl group f(x), which was responsible for the “Greatest K-pop Album of the 2010s,” according to Billboard.
Liu has been performing solo since 2018 and is considered “one of the most recognizable stars in one of the world’s most popular genres of music,” according to the Los Angeles Times.
Her first solo material was actually released in 2015 with “Rogue Rouge.” Her more recently released songs have proven to be her most popular, including “Curiosity,” which has more than 4.1 million views on YouTube.
The Fresno concert is the first stop of the Amber Liu Tour, which has visits 24 cities across the country.
As of Wednesday night, tickets still were available for Liu’s Fresno showing. General admission is $26.
