Music and family fun at Arte Américas this weekend
It’s a big weekend for Arte Américas. On Friday, May 29, the cultural center’s popular Nights in the Plaza series kicks off for the season with local band Heavy Weather, a Santana tribute band whose repertoire includes songs from the band’s Woodstock era up to current radio hits. You can make it an evening with a food-truck dinner from Taco Mazatlán, snow cones and alcoholic beverages for those 21 and over. The Nights in the Plaza series continues through September with 16 concerts in all.
On Saturday, May 30, the third annual Chicano Family Festival returns for an evening of art, music and fun. Activities include a bounce house, face-painters and activities for the kids as well as show cars, dancing, and margaritas for parents. An audience favorite is the hourly piñata smash.
