Fresno State student makes viral video about boyfriend because he didn’t text back
A Fresno State student made a viral video.
And if you’ve ever been in the middle of a text conversation with your significant then he/she suddenly stopped replying to your messages for a good while, you might understand why Paulina Ramirez made her video.
What started as a joke intended just for her boyfriend George Giron to see – a 65-second, fast-paced and funny video of Ramirez frantically wondering what happened to him – has now been viewed more than 2 million times on Twitter.
“When your boyfriend doesn’t reply so you make a trailer with all the time you have on your hands,” Ramirez said in her tweet that was accompanied by the viral video.
Ramirez, a Madera High South graduate, said she was texting back and forth with Giron about going to eat chicken and waffles when he stopped responding.
Giron apparently feel asleep during the text exchange, leaving Paulina wondering what happened.
As well as feeling hangry.
“I knew nothing bad actually happened to him,” Ramirez said. “But sometimes, the worst things pop in your head.
“And I was pretty bored so I thought I’d play around with my phone and make a video.”
Ramirez showed her boyfriend the video once he woke up and Giron laughed, especially the part when the video shows that she offered $9.47 as a reward to whomever found her boyfriend.
“Hey, college kids can’t afford anything over 10 bucks,” Ramirez said.
Because they got such a good laugh out of the video, Ramirez decided to share it with her 200-plus Twitter followers at the time.
Within a few hours, the video got retweeted over and over and became viral.
“It was a complete surprise,” Ramirez said. “I was just trying to get my boyfriend to laugh.
“But when I think about it, I feel like a lot of girlfriends can relate to it, and that’s been the main feedback I’ve received.”
Another type of feedback she’s gotten: “Others think I’m a possessive, lunatic girlfriend who wants to control his every move. I guess they didn’t realize it was a joke. I’m really laid back.”
And some were so impressed by Ramirez’s video edit, they asked to hire her to create videos for them.
“Uh, I just used the Imovie app,” said Ramirez, who is a psychology major. “It was my first time. Took like 30-45 minutes.”
Ramirez and Giron, who are both 21 years old, have been together for 3 ½ years. She said the couple has gotten continuous laughs seeing the number of video views continue to increase.
“Honestly,” Ramirez said, “I really was only expecting maybe five likes.”
