Paula Poundstone launched her career doing open mic nights on a cross-country trip on a Greyhound bus. Twenty five years later, she’s still at it. Only now the comedian/author is headlining theaters and serving as a regular on NPR’s weekly news quiz show “Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me.”

Over the years, Poundstone has developed an uncanny ability to spontaneously interact with her crowds. No two shows are the same, even when the material is. Her style of impromptu smart comedy earned her a cable ACE award for Best Standup Comedy Special. She was the first woman to win the award. She was also the first woman to perform standup at the White House Correspondents dinner.
