You may not know the name Nancy Cartwright, but you’ve certainly heard the voice.

The actress has been the voice behind cartoon bad boy Bart Simpson (and other characters in the TV show) for close to 30 years and 700 episodes.

For the film “In Search of Fellini,” Cartwright serves a quieter role, portraying a first-time screenwriter and producer.

The film is a Felliniesque fantasy, based in part on Cartwright’s own adventure trying to meet the famed Italian director, according to the New York Times.

It is a “charming drama about the love of movies and youthful passion,” the Times wrote in its review of the film, which screens at 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Friday at Tower Theatre as this month’s Fresno Filmworks selection.

Cartwright and fellow writer/producer Peter Kjenaas will be on hand for a question-and-answer session following the first screening. The Q&A is free and open to the public.

Tickets for the screening are $10 and available online or at Tower Theatre.
