Early snowfall has pushed forward the opening dates for two more ski resorts around Lake Tahoe.

Palisades Tahoe, a ski area in Olympic Valley, announced it will open Friday — five days earlier than originally planned. The resort is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.

Heavenly Mountain Resort in South Lake Tahoe is also ahead of schedule and will open Wednesday — two days early.

The early openings are credited to a surge of snowfall within the last week and snowmaking efforts by both resorts.

Mt. Rose became the first Lake Tahoe area ski resort to kick off the 2024-25 winter season when it opened in early November.

Last month, Homewood Mountain Resort announced it would not open this winter due to lack of financial support and challenges to finishing upgrades at the property.
