High schools fall preview: Buchanan water polo standout Kyle McKenney

Buchanan’s Kyle McKenney

▪ Year: Senior

▪ Position: Goalkeeper

▪ Why he matters: McKenney is regarded as one of the top senior goalkeepers in the nation, according to Bears co-coach Nic Maes. The 6-foot-2, 175-pounder, entering his third season as a starter for perennial Central Section power Buchanan, was a participant in the Olympic Development Program’s national selection camp.

▪ What’s next: UC Irvine, Long Beach State and Cal Baptist all have shown interest.
