Prep badminton: Clovis East’s Rose Vang wins Central Section title

Clovis East’s Rose Vang defeated Buchanan’s Sravya Gudipudi to capture the Central Section badminton singles title Saturday.

The two finalists, along with Clovis West’s Rosemary Vu and Clovis High’s Kendyl Ogas, will represent the section in singles at the CIF SoCal Regional on May 21 in El Monte.

Sunnyside High’s Rose Xiong and Faith Her won the section doubles championship over Clovis High’s Cassidy Crouch and Hayden Mammen.

Joining them at the regional are third-place team of Kelly Crouch and Gi Gi Dorsey, also from Clovis, and Doua Xiong and Zoua Thao, of Clovis East.

On Friday, third-seeded Buchanan upset top-seeded Clovis East for the Central Section team championship.
