Former Bulldogs coach Pat Hill said he is not a candidate for the Hawaii opening, despite a report to the contrary.

“I don’t even know how that got out,” Hill said an hour before kickoff of the Fresno State-Nevada game Thursday night. “Just a lot of people talking.”

Asked if he had interest in the position, Hill replied “not right now” and proceeded to stump for June Jones, his friend and ex-Rainbow Warriors coach.

“I’d like to see June Jones get the job,” Hill said. “He’d do a great job building that thing up again. I think he’d be able to turn it around real fast.”

Hawaii fired Norm Chow on Sunday after he compiled a 10-26 record in four seasons. Fresno State plays in Oahu on Nov. 14.
