Fresno State bringing back Jerry Wainwright as lead men’s basketball assistant

Fresno State men’s basketball coach Rodney Terry is filling his lead assistant position with his former lead assistant — Jerry Wainwright, who was on the Bulldogs bench in 2011-12, according to sources is returning to replace Michael Schwartz, who left in April to take a job at Tulsa.

Wainwright spent two years as an assistant at Marquette after leaving Fresno State. He has been a head coach at North Carolina-Wilmington, Richmond and DePaul and in 16 seasons lead his teams into the postseason seven times including three NCAA Tournaments.

When at North Carolina-Wilmington, he hired Terry as an assistant and they worked together for four years.
